A checklist for mobile masseurs and physiotherapists

How to be prepared for anything: Use this checklist to equip yourself with everything you need.
1. Choose a mobile massage or therapy table
If you don't have a model yet, you should invest the time to do your research and choose a treatment table that compliments your work and impresses your clients. First, you have to choose between a mobile massage table or a mobile therapy table.
1.1 Foldable massage tables
For mobile massages, you need a folding massage table. You can fold these up and transport them from A to B. There are models with wooden frames, lighter ones made of aluminum, massage tables with face holes and those with adjustable backrests. At the same time, the upholstery and size play a role. To give you a better overview, we compare two popular models.
The BASIC III Flat from ZEN Massage Ware is a classic, foldable massage table that was specially developed for mobile use. It offers 5.5 cm thick padding made of high-quality fine-cell foam, as well as an adjustable headrest that relieves the neck. The massage table also has a faceless cover that can be closed with a filling pad and comes with an arm strap. This increases the comfort of your clients when you treat them in a prone position. The side armrests of the BASIC III Flat also increase the lying surface.

Similar and yet different: The Avalon XD mobile massage table from Earthlite is also very comfortable, with 7cm thick multi-layer padding. The Avalon XD does not have a face hole or side armrests, but it does offer something very special: a Shiatsu option. You can fold the legs of the massage table away to lay it flat on the floor. Do you want to offer Shiatsu treatments? Then this model is perfect for you. Together with the Avalon XD you get a Flex-Rest headrest, which adjusts to the client to optimally relieve the neck.
Tip: You like the Avalon XD mobile massage table, but you want an arm strap? You can buy these separately in our shop. They are suitable for all mobile massage tables.

1.2 Foldable therapy couches
Mobile physiotherapists have different requirements than masseurs and therefore need special therapy couches. The padding must not be too thick and a face hole and a leg section that can be raised are often required. A very good example of a foldable therapy couch is the ZEN PhysioTop.
As its name suggests, this mobile treatment couch is specially tailored to the needs of physiotherapists. With the PhysioTop you have various options for treating your patients. Use the side armrests for treatments in the supine position, the face hole and the arm strap for prone position. The back section of the ZEN PhysioTop can also be folded up. The 10 levels allow for different positions. This allows you to put the patient in a sitting position or treat their feet more easily. At the same time, you enable older or physically handicapped clients to get up again more easily.
Like the mobile massage tables, this foldable therapy table is particularly stable and height adjustable.
Tip: All models can also be used in stationary practices. They are particularly suitable for small budgets.
2. Make the most of your opportunities
You can extend the size of your portable therapy or massage table by getting a footrest. This can be attached to the headrest input, which is available on both sides of many ZEN Massage Ware and Earthlite models. This way you have the headrest at one end and the extension at the other. Since the footrest can be removed at any time, you can decide for yourself which customer needs it.

The footrest is 28 cm long and available in the same colors as the ZEN massage tables. As an alternative to the footrest, you can use a paper roll holder. This is also attached to the second headrest entrance. The paper roll holder is adjustable in width and fits all standard massage tables.
3. Protect your mobile treatment couch
Hygiene is key. Make sure your therapy or massage table stays clean and protected at all times. Massage oil, sweat, make-up and creams reduce the longevity and comfort of your clients.
You can choose between a fitted cover and paper towels. Or you can combine both: a fresh cover is cuddly soft and the paper towels ensure that you don't have to wash it after every treatment. If, on the other hand, you work with a lot of oil, we recommend a PU slipcover. These are oil and water repellent. Of course, the comfort remains the same.
In any case, use disposable pads, whether they have a cover or not. These reliably protect your headrest from make-up and creams. They are made of soft fleece and do not leave marks on your face.
Tip: No matter how well you protect your treatment couch, you should still clean it and all of your accessories regularly. Disinfectants from cosiMed are effective against bacteria, fungi and enveloped viruses. Don't forget to wash covers often enough.
4. Complete your equipment
Now you have everything you need? Almost! The following things might also be useful and support you in your work:
- Electric blankets: They provide pleasant warmth and increase comfort.
- Massage oil: They care for the skin, smell good and let your hands glide over the body.
- Rubs: Perfect for physiotherapy. They have a similar effect to oils, but are more manageable.
- Knee rolls: Available in different shapes and degrees of firmness, they help you position the client and relieve pressure on different parts of the body.
- Folding stools: If you need to sit during treatment. They can be folded up for transport and weigh only a few kilos. Our folding stools are available in the same colors as the ZEN massage tables.
Check, check and check! With this list you are ready for your first home visit. We would also be happy to advise you by phone or on site in our showroom in Berlin Mitte.
