Back pain - What you can do about it now

The causes are diverse
There is a distinction between specific and non-specific back pain. In the case of specific back pain, the origin does not have to be directly in the spinal area. Much more often, it is a symptom of diseases of other organs, such as herniated discs, pneumonia, kidney stones, or even heart attacks.
However, most back pain is non-specific, where the doctor cannot determine a precise cause. Poor posture, heavy lifting, and tension can lead to a sore back. But the psyche also plays a role in some patients.

Take action yourself
If your back hurts, you can do quite a bit on your own, with or without aids, to relieve the pain. Just a few simple stretching exercises can make a big difference. You can find many instructions on the internet; usually, you don't need more than a chair or a sports mat.
If your pain is a symptom of an unhealthy sitting posture, we recommend using a wedge cushion. This reduces the tilting of the pelvis and thus changes the position of the lower back. Use the cushion during sitting activities for a certain period to optimize your posture.
Another proven aid is the acupressure mat. You don't need any therapeutic instructions here; just lie down on the mat for 10-30 minutes with your upper body bare and let the small plastic spikes stimulate your body. In the first few minutes, you may feel pain, but this quickly subsides, and the effect of the mat sets in. It is scientifically proven that acupressure mats not only relieve pain but also improve sleep and even help with migraines. And the best part? There are absolutely no side effects, and self-treatment is simple and safe.
If you want to go a step further, you can use a vibration massage roller like the Vyper 2.0. Such a reinterpretation of the conventional fascia roller uses a combination of pressure and vibration to stimulate the muscles. Vibration massage rollers can be applied not only to the back but to the entire body, effectively relieving muscular tension and alleviating pain.
Professionals know what to do
If you want to save yourself the stress of a workout, you can also use back pain as a reason for your next massage visit. Especially classic massages can help here. The masseur loosens the tissue through rolling, kneading, and stroking. Pressure and traction also have a relaxing effect on the nervous system, and after just one massage, relief from pain can be noticeably felt. However, it is advisable to visit massages regularly to strengthen the back and the entire body as best as possible and to prevent new pain.
It is important to know, however: In the case of chronic back pain, massages can relieve symptoms but do not combat the cause. They are intended as a supplement to regular therapy and support its success.
